Bennington Elementary Boogie Dance-A-Thon

Thursday, March 1, 2012 6:30 – 9pm
Our first-ever dance-a-thon is a fun and fit activity for Kindergartners through Sixth graders and their families. Students set their own goals. Each student who raises at least $1 will receive a prize.
Our goal is to help the fundraising committee raise at least $10,000 to fund the PTO General fund for activities throughout the year, as well as to set aside start-up funds for the Heritage PTO. We hope that each family will participate in the dance-a-thon to the best of its ability. If each family raises $40, we will achieve our goal. We’re hoping to make this dance-a-thon the best event yet, so the more contributions you raise, the more successful we’ll be at achieving our goal. Thank you very much for your participation!
Prizes
Students who participate in the Dance-a-Thon donation collection will be eligible to earn certain prizes and entries to a Prize drawing (separate from the Raffles). Prize earnings are cumulative – if $100 is collected, that student will receive the $1 prize, $25 prize, $50 prize, AND $100 prize.

- $25 Badger Bracelet
- $50 “I Boogied for Bennington Elementary” T-Shirt
- $100 Nylon Badger Backpack and BPA-Free Sport Bottle
PLUS
One entry to prize drawing for every $10 raised – this gives any child who raised at least $10 an opportunity to win a big prize. Only one prize per child.
PLUS
Classroom Level Prize – one classroom from each grade will win a Party on the day of the dance. Winning classrooms will be determined by total donations collected by the students in each classroom as of February 15th.
Rules
- Students may start collecting pledges as soon as they receive the collection envelopes. Reminder: Collection Envelopes need to be turned in by Wednesday, February 15, 2012.
- Pledges may be made by anyone. However, participants may not ask for pledges from any of the staff members of Bennington Elementary School.
- Each sponsor making a donation should write their name, donation and address or email if they wish to receive a receipt.
- Everyone is welcome to the dance! There is no additional fee to get into the dance. The PTO will be selling snacks, drinks, glow bracelets and necklaces as well as raffle tickets for the chance to win some really big prizes.
- No running or fooling around will be allowed. Participants are encouraged to dress in their finest Disco clothes!

PTO Bylaws
Every once in awhile, organizations need to review their Bylaws to see if they need to be updated to reflect a better way of doing things. Our PTO is no different. The Board of Directors met in the fall and came up with several changes they think would be beneficial to the PTO going forward.
The Bylaws do require membership vote, so we will have an online vote running all day January 30th (link will be sent by email) as well voting time at the meeting that night.
